At Schlierbach, near the hiking trail E5, there is a barrow. The name megalithic tomb is based on the popular belief that only giants could have piled up such huge blocks of stone on top of one another. It has not been proven whether this is actually a large stone grave from the Stone Age.

I also strongly doubt that there should have been a ring wall in the area. The rocks consist of local diabase and are very badly weathered due to their shape. It can be assumed that they have been lying for many thousands of years.

The diabase rock formation from the Hülsberg is not of human origin, as popular belief suggests. It was created in this form by leveling older structures in the Tertiary and is now known as the eastern part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains as the Lahn-Dill-Bergland. The weathering that has taken place since that time has given rise to these forms. The Bottenhorn plateau, for example, is one of the oldest mountain formations from this period in Europe. This has enabled mining in this region since Celtic times to the present day.
