The hacienda of the Portuguese Castro family is embedded in the Rambla de Castro nature reserve. The estate dates from the 17th century and has served as a backdrop for films and theater productions in recent years. After the conquest of Tenerife by Alonso de Lugo, the land was allocated to the Castros, who then became large landowners. They first grew sugar cane on their land, and later also wine, which came from the small natural harbors below the hacienda to England by boat.
