The Großer Gabler is a relatively easy summit, which nevertheless rewards you with a breathtaking Alpine panorama - and this without any crowds or danger of falling: In contrast to other summits, there is plenty of space around the summit cross to rest and enjoy!

The view from the 2574m high summit plateau is great. When visibility is good, you can see the large mountain ranges of the eastern main Alpine ridge from the Grossglockner to Hochfeiler and Habicht to the Wildspitze. In the south the large northern Dolomite peaks such as Odle, Sassolungo, Sciliar, Peitler and Enneberg Dolomites.

The ascent takes place over the wide southern ridge of the Gabler. Depending on the snow conditions and avalanche situation, the way back takes you on the ascent route or - a little steeper - down the slopes to the east to the Schatzer hut. From there back to the parking lot at the ski hut. Difference in altitude approx. 700 m.
