Well over a hundred large and small boulders form the Steinerne Stadt directly on the Sellpass. They are the result of a massive rock fall at the foot of the Sassolungo. The often handy, sometimes slightly overhanging dolomite rock is perfect for climbers but also for hikers.

Thousands of boulders result in a sea of stones that can be viewed from afar but also from close up and also have to be climbed. Behind the Comici hut in the direction of Eternal Ice, the sea meanders along the slope and has to be crossed to get to the glacier on the north-west slope. Impressively beautiful. It is best to start from the Sellajoch refuge, there is a small story for children on 5 boards to discover about Grandino and the giantess
