    In 1629 Prince Johann von Hohenzollern had the chapel built by Renaissance architect Hans Alberthal from Dillingen.
    A renovation was carried out in 1660 by the Baroque master builder Michael Beer from Au in the Bregenz Forest.
    In 1682 the chapel and altar were dedicated to St. Joseph.
    The current baroque interior was created under Prince Josef Friedrich in 1739.
    A fundamental renovation took place between 1975 and 1979.
