Hard-won view over the Ruhr area.
The well-paved road from the Ewald colliery is tough. Approx. 2 km long and 10% on average make you breathe a lot.
Asphalt is great and the road is wide. If there is not much going on, you can quickly reach a high speed.
Up there is an amazing view. Very recommendable.

The overburden of the Ewald colliery towers a good 100m here and can be tackled up to the top on asphalt. At the top you can expect beautiful views over the area to the Rhine (Walsum power plant, Langenberger transmitter or the mountain ranges in the Hard near Haltern).
But also a sundial with which the date can be determined and the horizon observatory will cast a spell over you. On the plateau above there are many easy-to-drive paved paths.
A visit to the exhibition New Horizons is recommended for those who want to understand the Horizon Observatory.

Well passable way up to the "summit", goes properly in the thighs. Once at the top you have a great all-round view of the Ruhr area.
