The Groß Leppin Church corresponds to the style of a typical Prignitz fortified church. The time of its construction, and therefore its age, cannot be precisely determined. According to tradition, this was started in 1250 at the earliest. Even today, its massive fieldstone tower is a sign that it was not only built to follow the Christian faith, it also served people as a place of protection and refuge from enemy attacks.
