Very good alternative to the tour on the Elbe. There is plenty of shade here, especially in summer, and there are also a few benches to rest on. Highly recommended bike path.

The "Marschbahndamm" in the Vierland and Marschlanden has different names along its entire length (23 km) from the Tatenberger Schleuse to Altengamme, but is only ever referred to as the "Marschbahndamm". The map opposite with a section of 1.7 km is irritating. The beautiful playground at Gleisdreieck is always worth a stop, where the Bergedorf railway embankment merges with the Marschbahndamm and continues to Kirchwerder and Zollenspieker Fährhaus, i.e. to the Elbe ferry. I cycle here a lot because it's my fitness track. I encounter the "racing racing cyclists" extremely rarely. They actually prefer the streets more.

Very nice path in the middle of nature, past the lake, fields and small towns. There are seating options and small waste bins at certain intervals. Just perfect for taking a break.
