The Buxtehude Museum has been open again since July 2021, Tuesday to Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.! The Buxtehude Museum has been extensively renovated, with more exhibition space and new, modern permanent exhibitions. Here the frequently asked question "Buxtehude - does that really exist?" is addressed briefly and its background is illuminated. A hands-on station for the race between the hare and the hedgehog, which took place on the small heath near Buxtehude, brings the fairy tale to life.

After the town hall was destroyed in a fire in 1911, the soap manufacturer Julius Caesar Kähler donated a separate building on St. Petri-Platz for the collection, which was opened on February 9, 1913 as a local history museum.
