The impressive Ross Dam was constructed over a period of almost 20 years between 1937 and 1953 to generate electricity for the city of Seattle. Electricity was much needed during World War II, but since the dam was not high enough back in the day, it could not produce. Today the dam is 540 feet wide and 1,300 feet long and generates up to 460 MW of electricity.

What should I know about parking and trailhead access for Ross Dam?

Parking information for Ross Dam and its trailheads is typically managed by the National Park Service. While the intro mentions planning your arrival to avoid busy periods, it's important to note that parking areas can fill up quickly, especially during peak season. It's advisable to arrive early, particularly on weekends or holidays, to secure a spot. Specific trailhead information can often be found on the NPS website.
