The Médicis Fountain, formerly known as the Luxembourg Cave, was commissioned in 1630 by Marie de Médicis, widow of King Henry IV of France and regent of King Louis XIII of France.
You can't visit the Luxembourg Gardens without seeing the fountain, or even resting in the shade and sitting on one of the chairs provided for tourists to relax and admire.

The Fontaine Médicis is a beautiful fountain located in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. It was commissioned by Marie de Médici, widow of King Henry IV, and built around 1630 by the Florentine engineer Thomas Francine.
