The cycle path runs directly along the slope between the steep slope and the Moselle River. Viticulture on steep slopes is demanding and is often carried out by hand or with special equipment such as tracked vehicles, as machinery is often not available. While the steep slope offers optimal sunlight and promotes the quality of the wine, it also requires a high level of labor and poses risks such as erosion.

While it takes only about 200 to 250 hours to cultivate one hectare of vineyard on flat slopes, it takes 800 to 1,600 hours on steep slopes, depending on the type of mechanization.
This effort is usually only worthwhile for larger wineries, but steep-slope wines are of exceptional quality.
