Amundsen's bust stands directly on the spot where he set off on his last, fatal seaplane flight. He wanted to save the Italian polar explorer Nobile.
Amundsen crashed - the few remains that were found of his plane can be seen next door in the Polar Museum.

The Sami way of life, including hunting, is demonstrated on the ground floor. Some traditional traps are now banned. Numerous prepared animal exhibits.

The museum is worth a visit. There are information brochures to read along in different languages when visiting the different thematic sections. The sections about the polar explorers Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen are particularly impressive.
