With its tower, which can be seen from afar, and its rectilinear facade, the parish church of St. George has become the symbol of the village.
On June 3, 1810, the then newly built parish church of St. George was blessed. This event celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2010. The church's neo-Romanesque interior dates back to 1892/93 and was repeatedly redesigned between 1944 and 1976 due to the decisions of the Second Vatican Council. The church was restored again in 1983/84 and the church interior was to receive a uniform note, from the altar to the organ.

The parish of "St. George" in Essleben is one of the oldest parishes in the Diocese of Würzburg. The first church in Essleben is mentioned as early as 1286. In the register of Julius Buildings of 1612, the church is described as "raised," and the tower as "newly built." In 1640, it is recorded that "...the roofs of the alleys at the churchyard" are being renovated, so it may have been a type of fortified church at that time. The present church was built in 1810.
