"The present monastery buildings on Herrenchiemsee were built in the Baroque style, with four wings enclosing a large, almost rectangular courtyard with an idyllic rose garden." Here the constitutional convention met in 1948 and laid the foundation stone for the Basic Law, details and the long history of the place in the museum. The Herrenchiemsee Monastery is a former Augustinian Canons monastery on the island of Herrenchiemsee in the Chiemsee in Bavaria. After secularization, the monastery buildings were redesigned into the old Herrenchiemsee Palace.
