The First Altmark Canning Factory was founded in 1898 by landowners and farmers from the Altmark region to process local fruit and vegetables into canned goods. The company was located on Letzlinger Straße and became a stock corporation in 1923.
During the GDR era, the factory was known for its production of canned goods such as peas and carrots, red cabbage, and sauerkraut. Fresh crops were processed here without preservatives. Many women worked in the production halls to prepare the harvest for long-term use.
