The comment from the side note speaks to my soul.
When you stand in front of the memorial stone, you ask yourself what it was really like here back then and why this battle had to take place.
Wouldn't it have been better to "simply" come to an amicable agreement?
But Napoleon must have been too aggressive after all.
I didn't know that gymnastics father Jahn was involved in battles either.

The first question we face at the sight of such memorial stones is what it may have looked like back then. The paved road did not exist yet, that's clear, but the rest? And how and why did people meet here? By mistake, from ambush, in a larger context? All questions to which there will be no answers. But that does not matter either, the knowledge of such in itself is actually the decisive factor after such a long time.
