There used to be an observation tower here, which collapsed in a storm in 1891 after only 11 years. A second tower lasted much longer and was only demolished after World War II due to its dilapidation. Now the Berghotel Augustusberg still stands here. The view of the Gottleuba dam, which was built from 1964 to 1974, and of the Eastern Ore Mountains to the Kahleberg, Geising and Luchberg are offered from the view. Geologically, the Augustusberg is a sandstone island in the middle of the granite.
