The church is a striking neo-Gothic, three-aisled, and four-bay structure, built from unplastered quarry stone. Its most prominent feature is the 56-meter-high tower with a spire, located on the west facade above the entrance. Inside, you'll find altars crafted from white Carrara marble, statues made in Innsbruck, and robust granite walls and columns.
Construction of the current neo-Gothic church began in 1893, initiated because the older St. Anna church in the market square had become too small. The tower cross was erected after just one year, and the church was ceremonially consecrated in August 1897.
Yes, the church houses several notable elements. An old wooden cross, hanging above the folk altar, predates the current church and connects it to its predecessor. Uniquely, the cross finial of the tower contains a time capsule with documents and coins from the time of its construction, preserving a piece of history.
The high altar features a statue of Saint Anna, the church's patroness, in its upper section, with Saint Joachim (Anna's husband) to the left of the tabernacle and Saint John the Baptist to the right. The left side altar is dedicated to the Mother of God Mary, while the right side altar honors Saint Joseph.
