The Winnenden Theft Tower, formerly known as the Fangturm, stands at the southwest corner of the old city wall. It was originally built as a prison for criminals who fell under the high jurisdiction and had to face the death penalty. Minor offenders arrived in the gate tower. The wall at this point was once nine meters high. The passage from the Wall to the Wagnerstrasse was only broken in 1904 on the occasion of a city fire.

Near the tower there is a fountain with a thief depicted in the middle. The ensemble of figure and fountain was created by Martin Kirstein. The statue, made of epoxy resin, represents a thief who, in the heat of the moment, broke several stolen wine bottles. While the bottles spill, he secretly blinks in the direction of the thief's tower. The fountain in which the thief stands is set about 50 centimeters deep into the ground. The facility was donated by a Winnenden citizens' initiative and inaugurated on June 4, 1982.
