Duurstede Castle is one of the oldest castles in the Netherlands and is located on an island in the middle of a park, where you can walk over the moat via a fairytale drawbridge. The castle is mainly rented out for weddings and events. You can therefore only visit it by appointment. The terrace is open every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., if there is no event taking place at that time.

The first part of Duurstede Castle, the square keep, was built in the 13th century. During the Renaissance, the bishops of Utrecht lived in the castle and the castle was modernized, which can be seen at the round tower. From the 16th century fell the castle and was used by the citizens of the area as a source of building materials.
In the meantime, the castle is owned by the city and after restorations festivals and weddings take place today. The castle is open to the public on Sundays between 11am and 6pm. Further information: kasteelduurstede.nl
