The Kaiserquelle is the warmest mineral spring in the Cheb Basin. It brings mineralized water from deeper layers to the surface at a temperature of 14 to 18 degrees. The water that emerges here is an iron-sulphur-bicarbonate-chloride and soda-containing acidulous well. The hydrogen sulphide contained in the water of the Kaiserquelle is not introduced by thermal waters, but is formed by microbial conversion in the moor. The intensive bubbling of the spring is - as with other springs escaping in the moor area - caused by the strong formation of carbon dioxide gas.

These mineralized waters, which come to the surface today in the area of the nature reserve (Národní přírodní rezervace Soos), were formerly boiled down to salt in brewing works and used in Soos and Františkovy Lázně. The salts have a high sulfate content.
