Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern is the full name of the Stockholm theater, but is usually referred to simply as Dramaten.
The theater was officially opened in 1908 with Strindberg's play Mäster Olof.
Many famous Swedish artists have contributed to the decorations of this Art Nouveau building. For example, many of the statues on the facade are by Carl Miles and Carl Larsson contributed to the ceiling paintings in the marble hall.

The Royal Dramatic Theatre (Swedish: Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern, more commonly known as Dramaten) is the Swedish national theatre in Stockholm. Around a thousand performances are given on the theatre's eight stages every year.

The theatre has been located on Nybroplan, Stockholm, since 1908. The Art Nouveau building was built by the Swedish architect Fredrik Lilljekvist and has been under state protection as Byggnadsminne since 1935. Renowned artists such as Carl Milles and Carl Larsson contributed to the theatre's artistic design.

Many well-known actors have graduated from the theatre's in-house drama school, Dramatens elevskola.
