The former official residence of the French Governor General is now the Presidential Palace. Ho Chi Minh himself refused to live in this luxurious villa after he was appointed President of North Vietnam. He preferred more modest accommodation - first "House 54" and then, from 1958, "Ho Chi Minh's Stilt House".

The palace was built between 1900 and 1908 and is not open to visitors.

The Presidential Palace in Hanoi, Vietnam, is a historic colonial building that originally served as the official residence of the French Governor-General and is now used for formal state events as part of the Ho Chi Minh Complex. The grounds also house the stilt house where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked, as well as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, which is open to the public. He himself did not want to live and work in this opulent building. Photography is prohibited.
