The Historical Museum of Senegal is located on the island of Gorée in a historic fortress. The museum is dedicated to the history of the country, and in particular that of Gorée. The island played a special role in the slave trade in this region from the 15th to the 19th century.
The exhibition is very interesting and is a must-see when visiting the island. If you want to learn more about the slave trade, you can find a lot of additional information in the "House of Slaves" not far away.
