The current church largely dates from 1720. It was built after the dilapidated and now robbed old church was demolished.
The current church is mainly in classicist style, although the tower (from 1847) is neo-Gothic.
During the First World War, the church was badly damaged in 1918. The church was restored from 1920 to 1922. In 1940, the church was damaged again.
Around the church is a procession with the 14 stations of the Passion of Christ.

Remarkable: only three of the four sides of the tower have a clock face. In the direction of Zulte, they are missing because the road to Zulte with a bridge over the Leie, now called Vierfrontenbrug, was only built in 1913. Before that, a clock face on that side was unnecessary and it was never added (I would never have noticed if Wikipedia had not pointed it out to me :-) ).
That there is a round hole on the Zulte side can be seen in the photos where the tower is located to the left of the church building.
