Hattingens old town is really beautiful, the perfect place to have a coffee break. Beware in the pedestrian zone, the Hattinger office is very fussy with cyclists! If you drive slowly and get caught, there is no penalty ....

The "Malerwinkel" with its picturesque houses and the leaning tower of St. George's Church is one of the most beautiful Hattinger views. The staircase between the narrow timbered houses leads to the church square, the center of the old town.

If you come to Hattingen by bike, be it on the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path or specifically as an excursion, you should definitely take a leisurely stroll through the old town, don't drive, look at the great buildings and take a break in the numerous restaurants and bistros.
The leaning church tower is the symbol of Hattingen and can be easily seen around the city. It is centrally located in the old town on the church square.
