The historic bathing hut was built as a pile dwelling according to the plans of the architect Karl Köpplin. The shape is based on the closed box baths of the 19th century. The bathing hut is the only building of its kind remaining on the Swiss shore of Lake Constance. Today it is an important social and cultural meeting place and is considered one of the most beautiful bathing establishments still in operation in the world.

The historic wooden bathing hut stands on pillars in the lake and can only be reached via a bridge. Built in 1924, it was initially used for personal hygiene, but soon became a social meeting place for the people of Rorschach and today also offers a variety of cultural encounters. The shape is based on the closed box baths of the 19th century. The complex is the only remaining building of its kind on the Swiss shore of Lake Constance
