By the way, the castle is privately owned and houses an agricultural museum.

Tyrol Castle, the ancestral seat of the Counts of Tyrol (Counts of Vinschgau), sits enthroned on a mighty castle hill. Not only the nearby village of Tyrol, but the whole country is shaped by the history of this castle, which gave the state of Tyrol its name. The first building was built around 1100.
