The modern bridge over the Elbe was built between 1979 and 1985. Between 2003 and 2005, the reconstruction of the bridge with static reinforcement was financed with EU funds.

The Czech Republic has many monuments and the castle in Děčín is one of the oldest. Its history probably dates back to the end of the 10th century, when written sources mention the so-called Děčín province, which had as its administrative center a wooden fort built on a rock massif, i.e. on the site of the current castle. The task of the building was primarily to guard the Elbe trade route, where, for example, duties were collected on the transport of salt. The first written mention of the fort dates back to 1128.
