The first church to be separated from the mother church of Horst was that of America. This happened on 14 March 1891.
N.J.H. van Groenendael from Hilversum was asked to be the architect for the church. Thanks to the financial support of the parishioners, construction could already begin in June 1891. The work was carried out by contractor L. Haegens from Horst.
On 11 May 1892 the new church was blessed by the Dean of Horst.
