One of the few opportunities in east London to cross the Thames without using a boat and quite a unique experience. Also the contrast when from the highly developed Docklands to the old village of Greenwich is quite strong.

The 370m long pedestrian tunnel, opened in 1902, enabled workers living south of the Thames to get to their workplaces in the docks without having to rely on the often unreliable ferry connections.
It is worth using the tunnel to enjoy the view of Greenwich from the opposite side of the Thames.
