The lightship was built between 1914 and 1918 at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg. The lightship served tirelessly in the German Bight for 65 years and showed the way for seafaring. The German Bight has been in the Emden Ratsdelft since August 2, 1984. The ship is now a maritime history museum. The oldest, intact lightship engine system is particularly interesting.
There is also a very cozy and maritime cabin restaurant on board and a registry office for the city of Emden.
