Occasionally, hikers in the vineyards will encounter a statue depicting grapes that are not realistically scaled, but rather completely oversized. The image of such an enormous bunch of grapes that it can only be carried on a pole by two men is ancient and—to the surprise of some—has a biblical basis: In the fourth book of Moses in the Hebrew Bible (usually referred to as the Old Testament), it is recounted that Moses sent men from all the tribes of Israel to explore the land of Canaan in pairs. Regarding Joshua and Caleb, it says:
