Torfhaus is a hub for hikers and bikers and the highest settlement in Lower Saxony. You can eat delicious there. The National Park Visitor Center offers interesting information about the Harz National Park. Opening times: April to October daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. November to March Tuesday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The visitor center is closed on Mondays (excluding public holidays) and December 24th and admission is free.

The Torfhaus National Park Visitor Center is a popular starting point for numerous hiking and adventure tours, such as the popular Goetheweg to the Brocken, the Moorstieg over the Große Torfhausmoor or the adventure tour "On the road with Boris bark beetle".
