The Iron Gate 1 dam was put into operation in 1972. Here, the Danube is dammed over its entire width of just over 1 km. The border between Serbia and Romania (EU external border) runs through the middle, and a road with a border crossing runs along the crest of the dam. Due to increased security measures, photography is prohibited!
