Castle ruins are not really applicable, because only two of the three castle mounds are left of the former castle, nothing can be seen of the castle itself. The sign points then in the direction of “Burgstelle”, which is more appropriate. I was impressed by the view from the point between the two castle hills.

"The castle Greifenberg (Gryffenberg) on the top of the also called" Katzenbüggel "[...] was a striking, three-part castle complex separated by two section trenches were three hills on which there were keep, palas and a farmyard only wall remains visible.

The castle is, as well as the "lords of Gryffenberg», first documented in 1223. The castle and the lower court rights over Bäretswil were first given by the Abbot of St. Gallen to the Counts of Rapperswil. From 1321 to 1507 the rights as Habsburg pledge possessions were with the gentlemen of Hinwil. "(Wikipedia)

More of a castle place instead of a ruin, you can see a little de space and the moat but instead of walls, there is a nice barbecue area!
