Lefkas is connected to the mainland by a floating bridge that is 70 meters long and 12 meters wide. This bridge was put into use on October 4, 1986 to solve the traffic problems at the crossing from the mainland to Lefkas. The special thing about this bridge is that it can turn a quarter turn when a boat has to pass. On each side of the bridge, a section of the road can be folded in, so that the bridge can turn and make room for the boats.
