Until the 1960s, barges carrying coal, wood and building materials for the neighboring companies still landed in Bergedorf harbor. Between 1900 and 1902, the stone quay that still exists today was built here on the Serrahn and the Serrahnstrasse leading to (Alte) Holstenstrasse was laid out.
A traditional port operation has not existed for decades and only the electrically operated crane from 1901 standing on the old quay wall is a reminder of the old Bergedorf port era. It comes from the Nagel & Kaemp machine factory in Hamburg-Winterhude and is a listed building.
