Castellar Viejo, also known as "El Castillo" is one of the three population centers that are in the municipality of Castellar de la Frontera. The most representative of this point is the great fortress of Arab origin whose wall surrounds the old town since the 13th century. The castle itself has been converted into a hotel.

Beautifully restored castle. We stayed at this place on our long-distance hike from Tarifa to Switzerland and we can highly recommend it.

The castle is located in the part of Castellar de la Frontera called "Old Castellar" on a mountain in the Los Alcornocales natural park. Right next to it is a park information point. For a guided tour of the castle you must book at info@castillodecastellar.es or by phone: +34 633 538 930.
