The gatehouse in Husum is located directly in front of the palace complex on Schloßstrasse. The gatehouse is also called Cornil's house in reference to one of its previous owners. The gatehouse dates back to 1612 and today it has survived all the castle renovations unscathed. It comes from the first phase of renovation under Duchess Augusta.

Before the visitor enters the castle area, this imposing gatehouse catches the eye. It was built in 1612 in the late Renaissance style and was part of the former boundary of the palace district. The two-storey building is also known as the Cornilsches Haus after its later owner.
