Columbus – a Corsican?
At that time, Calvi was semper fidelis, always loyal to Genoa. It is also undisputed today that the “discoverer” of America was born in the Republic of Genoa in 1451. And at that time, its territory extended as far as Corsica. So why not: Cristoforo Colombo from Calvi?

The small coastal town maintains the myth - even if other cities in Italy, Portugal and Spain also claim it.
However, little remains of his birthplace in the Carrughju Di U Filu in the citadel district. The English shot it to pieces in 1794. Only the remains can be seen today.
The plaque bears the year of his birth, 1436. And thus a completely different year to that otherwise recorded in the annals. Columbus remains an enigma.
