Kommern has been spared from fires and war damage throughout its history. The townscape and urban structure have thus retained their characteristics, some of which are up to 400 years old. Kommern thus remains one of the most beautiful half-timbered villages in the Rhineland, a gem at the foot of the Eifel, with almost 80 architectural monuments that are in very good condition thanks to the care taken by the owners.
