Ashcombe Windmill was restored in 2007 after being destroyed in a storm in 1916, but its owner James Tasker. The six sails are known as 'sweeps' in Sussex.

The windmill was originally built in 1928 and is now used to generate electricity, with the surplus being exported to the grid. This was a planning requirement, stemming from the renewable energy policies of the South Downs National Park.

The original Ashcombe post mill was built in 1826 but was destroyed by strong winds in the early 20th century. Construction on this new mill was completed in 2010 and the design mirrors that of the original mill. Today, it's used for residential purposes and the excess electricity it generates is returned to the National Grid, making it an environmentally friendly reconstruction.
