The impressive bronze sculpture "Two Mothers", created by Heinrich Epler (1856-1905), shows a woman and a tigress seeking refuge on a rock in the fight for the survival of their children against a flood. Originally designed for a fountain, the work was acquired by the city of Dresden in 1899 and integrated here three years later. The sculpture "Two Mothers" is considered an important work of late historicism and documents the stylistic diversity of Epler's work.

Besides the story depicted, it's interesting that the zoo isn't that far away ;-)

Unfortunately, the patina on the bronze is already "a bit beyond" what would be good for it... but that's just how it is after decades outdoors.
