This old historical restaurant with the well-preserved half-timbering is unfortunately no longer used as a gastronomic facility. There are apartments and office buildings in it.

The "Rothe Ochse" was created in 1738 and was an old pub with a break. Later it was converted into a quarters for travelers, because with the construction of the Saxon post station and after the relocation of almost all traffic between Leipzig and Dresden via Wermsdorf, a restaurant and accommodation facility in the immediate vicinity of the post station became necessary.

The royal butcher of Hubertusburg, Gottlieb Ruppert, bought the property in 1738, converted it into an inn and called it "Zum Rothen Ochsen". Even Napoleon is said to have stayed here and until the modern era before 1973 the guests enjoyed the outdoor seating in front of the inn View of the old Wermsdorf hunting lodge.
