Around the turn of the century, a small chapel was erected near the castle ruins that once stood on the site of the current Warandebos, at the intersection of the Kerkvoetweg and the Dorpveldweg. On the corner opposite the chapel, a rising pedunculate oak was planted as a corner tree. A sign is attached to the facade of the chapel with the inscription 'The last defenders of the County of Loon fell here in 1365'.
