From the park where the sculpture is located, one has a view of the two Little Belt Bridges.

For me, Middelfart is one of the most exciting cities in Denmark. Beautifully located on the Little Belt, fishermen used to go hunting for bottlenose dolphins. That was long ago. Today the skippers offer whale safaris from the harbor. The old town will delight you with its historic half-timbered buildings and the mighty Saint Nicolai Church will impress you with its size. If you like, you can climb at lofty heights over the old Lillebælt Bridge or enjoy a break in one of the cafés. What I personally liked best was the proximity to the water, to the Little Belt.

The bronze statue was created by the Danish sculptor and painter Gudrun Lauesen (1917-2002) and was unveiled at a ceremony in 1980.
