The lighthouse Bremerhaven stands as Bremerhaven upper fire at the New Harbor. It is the oldest mainland lighthouse still in operation on the German Bight and is one of the landmarks of Bremerhaven. The building has been a listed building since 1984.

The oldest mainland lighthouse on the North Sea coast is still in operation today and is certainly one of the most beautiful lighthouses of all. It was built in 1853 by Simon Loschen, the architect of the Mayor Smidt Memorial Church. The lighthouse is a successful synthesis of North German brick Gothic designs and concessions to the requirements of the technical age. Below the lighthouse is the lock for the entrance to the New Harbor.
