Here, where the Rio Tortuguero flows into the sea, there is no longer a forest but a flat tongue. It's incredibly hot and humid here, so no shade. The way up here is definitely worth it.
Just before the headland there is a small area with access to the lagoon. If you get the ferry's WhatsApp in town and its departure times at Cerro Tortuguero opposite, then you can be picked up here.
